Company Profile : After independence, the Ministry of Defence was created under the charge of a Cabinet Minister and each Service was placed under its own Commander-in-Chief. In 1955, the Commanders-in-Chief were renamed as the Chief of the Army Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Chief of the Air Staff. In November 1962, the Department of Defence Production was set up to deal with research, development and production of defence equipment. In November, 1965, the Department of Defence Supplies was created for planning and execution of schemes for import substitution of defence requirements. These two Departments were later merged to form the Department of Defence Production and Supplies. In 2004, the name of Department of Defence Production and Supplies was changed to Department of Defence Production. In 1980, the Department of Defence Research and Development was created. In 2004, the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare was created. The Defence Secretary functions a head of the Department of Defence and is additionally responsible for co-ordinating the activities of the four Departments in the Ministry.

22. Serving Combatants for Remusteration. Provisional application of serving combatants for remusteration in Pandit, Granthi and Padre cats will be accepted online. In addn all category candidates will be reqd to fwd manual application (Pandit, Granthi, Padre, Pandit (Gorkha), Maulvi (Shia) and Bodh Monk (Mahayana) cats) respectively to the nearest HQ Rtg Zone of place of posting. In addn to this application forms in respect of remustering candidates will be fwd by the unit where the candidate is posted and routed through the Records to the HQ Rtg Zone nearest to the candidate’s place of posting. However an advance copy of the appln will be submitted to concerned HQ Rtg Zone. Advance copy will be accepted provisionally for a candidate to attend rect rally. Copy routed through respective Records must reach the concerned HQ Rtg Zone before CEE, for a candidate to be allowed to appear in CEE. Candidate is required to produce med fitness cert indicating the medical category duly signed by the local medical authority where the individual is serving and countersigned by the CO of his unit alongwith Edn Cert and they shall then be reqd to fwd domicile Cert. Format att as Appx ‘C’.
