ENGAGEMENT OF TEACHING FACULTY ON CONTRACTUAL BASIS FOR ESIC MEDICAL COLLEGE LOCATED AT JOKA, KOLKATA


Employees’ State Insurance Corporation is a statutory body constituted under an Act of Parliament (ESI Act, 1948) and works under the administrative control of Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation proposes to fill up the Teaching Faculty positions – Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor for ESIC Medical College located at Joka, Kolkata on contractual basis through walk in interview. The details of vacancies and reservation position are as under:

Educational and Other 
Qualifications
Essential for Medical Candidates:
A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions in Section 13 (3) of the Act.
A Post Graduate qualification e.g. MD/MS (Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery) or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject/allied.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:A Post Graduate qualification i.e. Masters Degree in the concerned subject/allied discipline.
A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the respective subject/allied discipline.
Note: The respective subject/allied discipline should be as in the Table-I of Schedule I of the MCI-“Minimum Qualifications for Teac hers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998” and amendments thereof till date.
Experience: Three years teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty in a recognized medical college with minimum of four research publications in indexed/national journals provided that these research publications are published/accepted for publications in the Journals by the National Associations/Societies of the respective specialities as the First Author. Further provided that the requirement of 4 research publications for promotion to the post of Professor should be taken on cumulative basis with minimum of 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Associate Professor.
NOTE (1)The experience should be recognized by the MCI or the statutory body concerned with the system of medicine as valid teaching experience for teaching posts and certificate thereof or any other valid proof in support thereof should be submitted and a certificate to this effect is to be submitted.
NOTE (2)Teaching experience in any other post like the post of General Duty Medical Officer shall not be considered for eligibility purpose for recruitment to teaching posts.

Further provided that the requirement of 2 research publications for promotion to the post of Associate Professor should be fulfilled with minimum of 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Assistant Professor.
NOTE (1):If DNB qualified candidate is working as Assistant Professor in a MCI recognized Medical College/Central Institute, he/she would require one more year of teaching/research experience to be promoted as Associate Professor over and above the minimum time frame for MD/MS candidate.

Experience:
  1. For the candidates possessing MD/MS (Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery) Degree from MCI recognized medical colleges: Three years teaching experience in the subject as Resident/Registrar/Demonstrator/Tutor in a recognized medical college either during the post-graduate course or after
    obtaining post-graduate degree in the subject.
  2. For the candidates possessing DNB qualification from MCI recognized medical colleges/central institutes where the no MD/MS course running: Three years teaching experience in the subject in a recognized medical college either during the DNB course or after possessing DNB qualification. The concerned candidate would also require one year of additional teaching/research experience in the concerned subject in a recognized medical college after obtaining DNB qualification
  3. For candidates possessing DNB qualification from MCI recognized medical colleges/central institutes where there are MD/MS course running: Three years teaching experience in the subject in a recognized medical college either during the DNB course or after obtaining DNB qualification.

AGE LIMIT: Not exceeding 67 years as on date of walk in interview for all posts.

PAY AND ALLOWANCES:
  1. ESIC has adopted recommendation of 6th Central Pay Commission. Pay (Pay in pay Band plus grade pay) and other allowances shall be paid as admissible.
  2. The retired Government Officers shall be paid emoluments in accordance with the rules in force as on date.
  3. Other candidates appointed on contractual basis will be paid Pay at the initial stage i.e. initial Pay of the relevant Pay Band plus Grade pay and other allowances as per rules of the Corporation.
  4. Pay as on date (Pay in Pay Band + Grade Pay + NPA @ 25% (as admissible) in different categories is as under:

  6. In addition to above, other allowances like D.A., HRA etc. would be payable as admissible.
  7. No Private practice is allowed during the tenure of service in ESIC.
  8. Retired candidates from Central/ State Govt. / PSU from the equivalent posts are eligible to apply. Persons working in recognized/ approved Private Medical Institutions fulfilling
    eligibility criteria for the post may also apply
  9. The candidates have to attach the self-attested copies of all the relevant certificates/testimonials on support of date of birth, category, sub-category i.e. educational qualification,
    teaching experience, Pension Payment Order (PPO), etc. with the application form and have to produce originals thereof at the time of interview.

HOW TO APPLY:
The candidate should check his/her eligibility against the advertised criteria for each post before applying. Only eligible candidate should appear for the walk in interview with the following documents on the stipulated date, time and venue mentioned.
  1. Two sets of the prescribed application form enclosed with this notification must be printed on A4 size paper and properly filled up and submitted at the time of verification on the day of interview.
  2. Two copies of recent self-attested color passport size photograph.
  3. Two sets of self-attested copies of certificates and testimonials in support of: (i) proof of age (Date of Birth), (ii) Category, Sub-category, (iii) Educational Qualifications: (Graduate, Post Graduate, & any other), (iv) MCI recognized teaching experience issued by the Head of the Institute or Head of the Department, (v) Research Publications in Indexed Journals, (vi)
    Pension Payment Order (PPO), in case of retired employees from Govt. organizations.

If any candidate wishes to appear for more than one post, he/she must appear with separate sets of application forms, documents and testimonials, photographs, and separate demand draft fees for each post applied for.

Mode of payment:
A Demand Draft of Rs. 225/- in favour of ‘ESI Fund Account No. I’, drawn after 11.03.2016 on any scheduled bank payable at ‘Kolkata’ has to be submitted along with
the Application Form.

Selection Procedure:
  1. The selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidate in interview before the Selection Board.
  2. Result will be communicated through e-mail/ SMS and will be displayed on web-site: www.esic.nic.in and www.esi pgimsrkolkata.org.

General Conditions:
  1. Mere submission of application does not confer any right to the candidate to be interviewed.
  2. Application should be submitted in the prescribed format only. The applications found to be incomplete will be summarily rejected.
  3. Wrong declarations/ submission of false information or any other action contrary to law shall lead to cancellation of the candidature at any stage.
  4. Opportunity of interview given to candidates will be on provisional basis.
  5. The interviews shall be conducted at DEAN OFFICE, ESIC MEDICAL COLLEGE, Joka, Diamond Harbour Road, Kolkata 700104, on 17th, 18th & 19th March, 2016. However, ESIC reserve the right to change the centre, if needed.
